                        1. Introduction & Institutional Commitment
Welcome to Kettering Health. We are honored that you are considering our institution for your graduate medical education. At Kettering, our mission is clear: To live God's love by promoting and restoring health. This mission guides our commitment to providing a learning environment that is compassionate, adaptive, and inclusive—one that supports your academic growth and personal development.
Our guiding principle, Nurturing Academic Excellence: Your Future in Mind, reflects our dedication to developing physicians who embody excellence, wholeness, and leadership in every aspect of their training and practice.

						2. Role of the DIO
As the Designated Institutional Official, I oversee all ACGME-accredited residency and fellowship programs across our network. My role is to ensure that our programs meet the highest standards of educational quality, regulatory compliance, and resident support. I work closely with program directors, faculty, coordinators, and the Graduate Medical Education Committee to foster a culture of excellence, continuous improvement, and belonging.

						3. Educational Environment & Resources
Kettering Health is a Seventh-day Adventist faith-based institution, and our values shape how we care for patients and train future physicians. We believe in whole-person care, supporting physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being in every interaction. Our programs offer robust clinical experiences, interdisciplinary rounds, and a nurturing academic culture. From our "Kettering Rescue Crew" to our open-door mentorship philosophy, we are here to help every resident thrive.

						4. Vision for Graduate Medical Education
Our vision is to cultivate physicians who are not only clinically competent but also compassionate, curious, and resilient. We recognize that each resident has a distinct learning style, and we tailor our educational approach to meet those needs. Whether your path leads to primary care or subspecialty training, we are committed to helping you reach your goals through personalized mentorship, experiential learning, and academic rigor.
We actively support residents in practicing whole-person care, both during inpatient rounds and in the outpatient setting. As a faith-based organization, we welcome the spiritual care of our patients and model physician involvement and leadership in this area by encouraging respectful conversations, including asking patients if prayer is something they would appreciate.

						5. Research, Scholarship & Fellowship Placement
We offer a strong infrastructure for research and scholarly activity, supported by a dedicated research director and faculty-led research groups. Our residents regularly publish and present at national conferences, and many successfully match into competitive fellowships, including Cardiology, Interventional Cardiology, and Hematology-Oncology. Our alumni have gone on to train at top-tier institutions such as Cleveland Clinic, Emory, and Vanderbilt.

						6. Closing & Invitation
Kettering Health is more than a place to train; it is a community that believes in your potential and invests in your future. We are proud of our legacy of excellence and humbled by the opportunity to shape the next generation of physicians. We hope you will consider joining us and becoming part of something truly special.
